Spay and Neuter Assistance

Spay and Neuter Assistance
The League encourages all pet owners to have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered to prevent the birth of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. Additionally, sterilizing your pet can eliminate or reduce unwanted behaviors such as urine marking, the urge to roam and the messiness associated with a heat cycle (for females). Long-term, spaying and neutering also reduces the risk that your pet will suffer from cancers associated with the reproductive organs.
To encourage pet owners to have their companion animals spayed or neutered, the League and 20 area veterinary clinics have created a reduced-cost spay/neuter program. To participate, pet owners should go to the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, review the list of participating veterinary clinics and the costs associated with the surgery and then purchase a spay/neuter certificate from the League in advance of making the appointment for the pet’s surgery. Please note that the cost of surgery varies from clinic to clinic and often depends upon the size and gender of the animal being treated.
