On Wednesdays, the shelter is closed to the public and phones are disabled. Please call 703-746-4444 for emergencies.

The Vola Lawson Animal Shelter will close at 5 PM on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th.

NOTE: Due to repairs being made to our dog kennels, we have limited kennel space and are only able to accept dogs surrendered by residents of the City of Alexandria. If you do not live in the City of Alexandria, please call or visit the animal shelter in your jurisdiction. More information on surrendering a pet can be found here.
